ANNOYING TECH

Comparing changes in technology from a hundred years ago to today is inequitable at best. Reason being is that tech actually worked. They were simple machines that were easily repaired, lasted a long time and for the most part, performed tasks flawlessly. The same cannot be said for current technologies. EV’s that mysteriously burst into flames and are extremely difficult to extinguish. Don’t forget to select “car wash mode“ or you’re looking at a tow and a very expensive non-warranty repair job. Even internal combustion engine vehicles that won’t start if you walk in front of one with an ice cream cone. Properly developed new vehicles shouldn’t confuse, annoy or impoverish us.

ZANE RASMUSSEN

(There’s a lot to be said for tech that allows for DIY.)

WORLD ORDER

So you think Mark Carney gave a great speech in Davos. Really? He lamented the fact that the world order had been ruptured, but then stated that this same world order involved the U.S. bullying weaker countries with Canada benefiting by being a willing participant in the bullying. If only Donald Trump had not ruptured the world order, then we Canadians could have carried on as usual. Carney trashed Canada on the world stage and we all clapped like trained seals.

BYE, BILL

The clearing of the decks continues for the Liberals with the departure of Bill Blair. Hopefully still more of Trudeau’s gang of virtue signallers will follow. Blair was particularly troublesome, as a former police chief who knew that the Liberal policies were wrong. But he was willing to sell his soul for the Liberal mantra of power over principle. As a former officer who worked for this hypocrite, I say good riddance.

DAVID WOODLEY

(Blair, like Freeland and other Liberals, is failing upward.)

GROUND THE PM

Re “High flying Carney must focus on home” (Editorial, Jan. 26): If Mark Carney stayed home and made Canada more attractive to investors by getting rid of cumbersome regulations, reduced taxes and borrowed some more of Pierre Poilievre’s great ideas, business would be knocking at our door. There would be no need to flit around the world accomplishing nothing. My guess is Carney doesn’t want to put in the hard work required to make this happen.

(He doesn’t seem to like being in Canada for long periods of time.)
