Rome, October 24, 2025 — The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) inaugurated the First FAO Global Exhibition – “From Seeds to Meals” in celebration of its 80th anniversary. As a Global Soil Partnership (GSP) partner of the FAO and the only invited enterprise from China’s agricultural input industry, Kingenta Group presented its independently developed bio-based coated controlled-release fertilizer technology and products, becoming a highlight of the event. The exhibition showcased Kingenta’s innovation, technological leadership, and global vision, bringing Chinese agricultural science and technology to the world stage.
A Global Feast of Agricultural Innovation: Kingenta Showcases Chinese Wisdom
The exhibition celebrated FAO’s 80 years of commitment to global food security and sustainable agricultural development. Hundreds of exhibitors from more than 130 countries gathered to display innovations spanning the entire agricultural and food value chain — from seeds and new crop varieties to cultivation techniques and food safety solutions.
Kingenta’s bio-based coated controlled-release fertilizer technology stood out for its high level of innovation and practicality, becoming one of the exhibition’s featured agricultural technologies and drawing strong interest from international participants.

During the event, Kingenta’s technology and products received widespread recognition. FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, King Letsie III of Lesotho, and Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida — along with dozens of other leaders and ministers — visited the Kingenta booth to learn about the company’s international achievements. They praised Kingenta’s global sharing plan, emphasizing its potential to advance sustainable agriculture worldwide.
Kingenta Announces Global Sharing Plan for Bio-Based Controlled-Release Fertilizer Technology

At the FAO’s 80th Anniversary celebration, Kingenta President Wan Peng announced the company’s Global Sharing and Promotion Plan for its core bio-based coated controlled-release fertilizer technology.
“Kingenta is deeply honored to represent Chinese enterprises at this global exhibition,” said Wan. “By leveraging the FAO platform, we will promote bio-based controlled-release fertilizer technologies and products worldwide, drive global agricultural innovation, and contribute China’s strength to ensuring food security for all.”
“Going Global” — Kingenta’s Controlled-Release Technology Blossoms Worldwide in 2025
In 2025, Kingenta achieved substantial progress in expanding its international footprint. In Europe, the company established the first overseas controlled-release fertilizer plant in the Netherlands led by Chinese technology — marking the official entry of China’s controlled-release fertilizer technology into the European market. The plant not only produces high-quality fertilizers but also serves as a regional hub for marketing and technical services across Europe and Africa, providing local farmers with comprehensive agronomic support.

In Southeast Asia, Kingenta signed a strategic partnership with Indonesian agricultural technology company AgriAKU, launching demonstration fields, farmer training programs, and full-service agrochemical support. This partnership has significantly enhanced local agricultural productivity and farmers’ incomes, earning wide acclaim.
Africa has also become a key focus of Kingenta’s 2025 globalization strategy. In July, during the FAO’s “One Country, One Product” global initiative seminar, Kingenta reached an agreement with Lesotho to provide controlled-release fertilizer technology solutions to improve local potato yields. The company has already developed 1,000 hectares of demonstration fields across several African countries, successfully validating the technology’s effectiveness and laying the groundwork for large-scale application.
Core Technology Empowering Global Sustainable Agriculture
Kingenta’s bio-based coated controlled-release fertilizer technology uses natural bio-based materials to replace traditional petrochemical coatings, achieving both efficient resource recycling and environmental protection. The innovation earned Kingenta the Second Prize of China’s National Technological Invention Award.
At the exhibition, Kingenta also showcased its latest controlled-release fertilizer products for major crops such as corn, rice, and wheat. These products ensure precise nutrient release, enhance fertilizer efficiency, reduce the need for multiple applications, lessen farmers’ workload, and protect the environment.
President Wan Peng noted that Kingenta will continue to advance the global application of controlled-release fertilizer technology through three strategic priorities:
Accelerate technology transfer and product sales across Belt and Road countries to build a global promotion network.
Collaborate with international institutions to establish research and training centers, enhancing technical capacity and innovation among agricultural professionals worldwide.
Strengthen R&D and industry–academia cooperation to drive continuous technological iteration and industrial upgrading.
Kingenta’s outstanding participation at the FAO Global Exhibition not only showcased the achievements of Chinese agricultural innovation, but also demonstrated China’s commitment to global agricultural governance and sustainability.
Standing at this historic milestone of FAO’s 80th anniversary, Kingenta will continue to uphold the principles of openness, collaboration, and shared innovation — deepening global partnerships and accelerating the worldwide adoption of controlled-release fertilizer technology. Through sustained innovation and international cooperation, Kingenta aims to make even greater contributions to global food security and sustainable agriculture, writing a new chapter in the global journey of Chinese agricultural technology.
